Eyelid Surgery in Sacramento
Sagging skin around your eyes can often make you look tired and older than you really are. Eyelid surgery, also referred to as an eyelid lift or blepharoplasty, is best for people who have droopy upper eyelids, or puffiness and bags under the lower lids. Eyelid surgery can help smooth away the excess skin and tissue to reveal a more refreshed appearance.
Let Dr. Davis help you achieve a more youthful and refreshed look. Contact Dr. Davis or call 916-318-5770 to schedule your one-on-one consultation today!

More about Eyelid Surgery
During Your Consultation
During your eye lid surgery consultation, Dr. Davis will examine your eyes, eyelids, and your face. It is important to discuss any prior eye or eyelid surgery as well as contact lens usage or any issues with dry eyes. Dr. Davis will discuss your concerns and your ideal outcomes for your eyelid surgery. Depending on your goals, he may suggest combining your eyelid surgery with a facelift or brow lift, and possibly even fat grafting and laser resurfacing, to achieve more harmonious results.
Technique
For the upper eyelids, the incision is placed in the natural lid crease and is used to remove the excess skin and fat. On the lower eye lid, the incision is placed just below the eyelashes and is used to remove excess skin and the puffy "bags" of fat. The muscle can then be tightened and create a smoother transition from the lower lid to the cheek.
Recovery
After your eye lid surgery, you will have tape on the sides of your eyes supporting the sutures and eyelids. You will return to the office the next day to have the head wrap removed. We will continue to check on you as you recover and are of course here and available any day if you have any questions or concerns.
You will need to apply a cool compress to you eyes frequently for the first 2 days to reduce swelling and bruising. Ointment at night will help keep your eyes from becoming too dry. The sutures will be removed at 1 week and that first week you'll be a bit bruised and swollen but will be feeling very good at the end of the week. Bruising can last a few weeks but can be easily covered with make up around 2 weeks. You can begin strenuous exercise and rigorous activity at 8 weeks.

Q&A with Dr. Davis
I routinely perform upper eyelid surgery with only local anesthesia. For lower eyelid surgery, patients go to sleep under general anesthesia.
It's very easy to recover from eyelid surgery. Most patients only need a cool compress on the eyes and Tylenol for comfort. You will use some eye drops for about a week to keep your eyes from getting dry. Bruising around the eyes is very normal and is easily concealed with makeup at about 2 weeks.
The depends on when you feel safe. If you are needed narcotic pain medication, then you can't drive until you are able to use over the counter pain meds. Also, you need to use good judgment of when you feel you can see well enough to drive safely. For most people, this is a few days after surgery.
In theory, anytime surgery is performed on the eyelids, the shape of the eye could be affected. My approach is always to maintain a natural result and keep your eyes looking like your eyes
