- Flatter, tighter abdomen
- Improved overall body proportions
- Single recovery period
- Boost in confidence and comfort
Who’s a Candidate for a Mommy Makeover?
A mommy makeover can be a great option for women looking to restore their body after pregnancy, but timing and overall health play an important role in achieving the best results.
Ideal candidates typically:
- Are at or near a stable, healthy weight
- Are finished having children
- Are at least 3 to 6 months postpartum (often longer, depending on the procedure)
- Have stopped breastfeeding for several months to allow breast tissue to stabilize
- Have realistic expectations about results and recovery
- Are in good overall health and non-smokers, or are willing to stop before surgery
- Are bothered by concerns like loose abdominal skin, muscle separation or breast changes
Every woman’s needs are different, so the best way to determine if a mommy makeover could be right for you is through a personalized consultation with Dr. Davis.

During Your Consultation
Although you will discuss your areas of concern with Dr. Davis, here are some common procedures included in a mommy makeover:
- Tummy tuck to tighten stretched muscles and removes excess skin.
- Breast enhancement to restore lost volume, reposition sagging breasts and remove excess skin and tissue.
- Liposuction to redefine the curves on the abdomen, hips and/or thighs.
- Labiaplasty to reshape the stretched tissue of the vulva.
Ideally you should be at or near your goal weight and 3 months after breast feeding to get the most out of your mommy makeover. During your consultation, Dr. Davis will discuss your goals, customize your options and decide which surgeries will be needed to give you the results that you want.
Once your treatment plan has been determined, Dr. Davis will go over your mommy makeover details. This will include what to expect before, during and after your mommy makeover procedure and guidelines on how to prepare for each stage of your journey.
The Procedure
A mommy makeover is typically performed as a single, customized surgery that combines multiple procedures, such as tummy tuck, breast lift and/or augmentation and liposuction.
The procedure is performed under general anesthesia for your comfort and safety. Surgical time can vary depending on the combination of procedures, but most mommy makeovers take between 3 to 6 hours to complete.
During surgery, Dr. Davis will address each area in a strategic sequence, typically starting with the abdomen and then moving to the breasts. Techniques are tailored to your specific goals, whether that means removing excess skin, tightening abdominal muscles, restoring breast volume or improving contour through fat removal.
After your procedure, you will be monitored while anesthesia wears off before being discharged. You will need someone to drive you home and stay with you for at least the first 24 hours.

MORE ABOUT DR. DAVISMommy Makeover Recovery
Recovery after a mommy makeover is largely driven by the tummy tuck portion of the procedure. Because the abdominal muscles are tightened and excess skin is removed, this tends to be the most restrictive part of healing. That’s also why many women choose to combine procedures, so they only go through one recovery period rather than multiple separate ones.
In the first 1 to 2 weeks, you can expect soreness, swelling and limited mobility, especially when standing fully upright. Most women need help at home during this time, particularly if they have young children. Dr. Davis encourages light walking to promote circulation, but strenuous activity is off-limits.
By 2 to 3 weeks, many people feel well enough to return to light daily activities or desk work, though you’ll still need to avoid lifting, bending and core engagement. Your abdomen will continue to feel tight as it heals.
Around 4 to 6 weeks, most normal activities can gradually resume, including exercise, depending on Dr. Davis’s guidance. Swelling continues to improve, and you’ll start to see more of your final shape.
Because multiple areas are treated, following post-operative instructions closely is especially important. Wearing compression garments, avoiding strain and giving your body time to heal all play a key role in achieving the best possible results.
Mommy Makeover Results
You’ll start to notice changes right away after your mommy makeover, but it’s important to understand that your final results take time to fully develop. In the first few weeks, you’ll see an immediate improvement in body shape and contours, though swelling and tightness can temporarily mask your final shape, especially in the midsection.
By 4 to 6 weeks, much of the initial swelling has subsided, and your results will look more refined. Clothing will fit better, and your silhouette will feel more natural, though subtle swelling may still be present.
Most women see their final mommy makeover results between 3 to 6 months, with continued improvement up to a year. Scars will also fade gradually over time, becoming less noticeable with proper care.

Q&A with Dr. Davis
Mommy makeovers are one of my favorite procedures! Mothers make endless sacrifices for their children, and for many this starts with pregnancy and the effects it can have on their body. I love seeing how happy and confident the moms are who have this surgery and how great they feel about their “new” bodies.
They are incredibly safe. Many of the mothers who come in for a consultation ask about safety because understandably, they are thinking of their families. If you are otherwise healthy, anesthesia and the surgery are very safe.
You can expect breasts that are lifted and perkier (and have restored volume if you chose implants), a flatter abdomen, and feeling more like you have the body you had before children.
Definitely. Many women choose implants as part of their breast rejuvenation surgery to add the volume necessary for the result that they want. However, there are many women who have adequate breast tissue, but it’s just sagging too low and needs to be lifted and reshaped. I will be able to help you make that decision during your consultation.
Absolutely! Once the areola is stretched out from the increase in breast size and breastfeeding, it often stays enlarged, and then as the breast gets smaller the areola stays big and can be a very dominant feature of the breast. As part of your breast lift (with or without implants) I will make your areola smaller and proportioned to your breast.
The cost of a mommy makeover can vary widely depending on the specific procedures included and the complexity of the procedure. Because each mommy makeover is fully customized, the best way to get an accurate estimate is through a personalized consultation. Please contact us for more information.
In most cases, a mommy makeover is considered an elective cosmetic procedure and is not covered by insurance. However, if a portion of the surgery is deemed medically necessary, such as repair of a significant abdominal muscle separation or skin issues, there may be limited exceptions. This can be discussed in more detail during your consultation.
